So I was thinking. And this is a theoretical question as I am still learning about still lenses. Knowing that the CP.2s are essentially the same glass as ZE/ZF series but with just the cinema housing and more aperture blades yada yada. I was wondering if there have ever been 3rd party companies who have modified existing stills lenses (vintage stuff like Leica-R etc.) and replaced just the aperture blades with custom blades to make rounder aperture etc. Sort of a mix of the old glass but with more modern advances for bokeh etc. Pros/Cons? Can anyone chime in or does this sound like a stupid question?
I know some older vintage glass has a unique look but when you stop down to prime aperture you get a more hexagonal shape opening with hexagonal bokeh etc. This is why I ask.
Also has anyone experimented with a 'Franken-Lens' DIY type of project?
