Hi,
I'm looking to get a better video card for my mac pro. Nvidia lists these two models of video cards:

Quadro K5000 (New!)
Quadro K5000 for Mac (New!)

But nvidia doesn't note different part numbers that I can discern. Resellers sell a "K5000", but they don't note if it works with a mac pro or not. Are these two things the same thing with different software? Or are they different physical models? Looking at the spec charts at newegg and amazon and the other usual suspects reveals nothing... Has anyone gotten a K5000 working in a mac pro?

TIA!

It's a new card, I don't believe it's shipping yet. I've been waiting for it too.

It's publicity fodder and an announcement made in case Apple dropped a bomb with a new Mac Pro before the end of the year. The odds of this card coming to market are slim to none. It serves no purpose within any current Mac Pro systems as they don't have PCIe v3 or enough PCIe aux power to run the card unless they underclock it by a significant margin!

I'm sure we'll see a new Quadro card for the Mac in the coming months when the new Mac Pro launches, if that new Mac Pro has the ability to use it. Not sure if it will be the Quadro K5000. I hope it's not, the K5000 is the mid-range Quadro for the new line and I would much prefer the upcoming K6000. Then again, that K6000 will be even more expensive -- like Quadro 6000, $4700 MSRP, expensive.
