Hey there,
I having a problem with REDCINE where as soon as I do any color grading the whole image goes black. I read that this could be a graphics card issue. Should I get rid of my once glorious nvidia quadro fx3000 (agp)... and get a better one?

i have several quadros fx's(including the 3000) and the older quadros are notoriously sketchy with what flavor of driver version they prefer with specific applications. i would try to roll back several driver versions from the most current before retiring the card. i have not tried the 3000 with redcine.

good luck.

Short answer - yes. AGP cards just won't work properly with REDCINE.

If you have an FX3000 and an AGP mobo, then chances are that you also have a pretty old computer, yes? Might want to look into upgrading that as well. :)

It is possible to build quad intel computer with great PCI gpu for less then 1000$.

yeap, I guess its time to upgrade. my computer is not that old... well a couple of years. Athlon64 3500 2.2 ghz, 2G RAM, onboard sata raid... but AGP... so the FX3000 was the better I could find at the time.

I can still do basic stuff with REDCiNE... adjust exposure, temperatue, ISO, and export... so at least I can get my OPENCUT 1.0 editing going.

I guess I can try several drivers first, or maybe even overclocking the GPU... do you think is worth it?

Hey - go for it. If you've got the skills and can make it work, more power to you. :)

But the fundamental problem is not the GPU - it's AGP. But come on... a couple of years? Dude, that's 100 in "computer years." :)

Cheers,

Fair enough. The sad thing (at least for my pocket) is that the any new system I buy right now will be old in a few months... days... min...
Any way, thanks for the comments people.
