  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

QT-wrapped R3D files: work with any QT app?

It's only for intel, not PPC - that's correct. Ah, Colin - hiding under an alias :-) I'll contact you and see if I can't help you out. It should work just fine!

So Graeme, will that Power PC mac ever be able to play RedCode wrappers?

Pretty please.

That's something we'll have to just wait and see on. I don't think we've made a firm decision either way.

I have a question - and forgive my boneheaded ignorance (And yes I have searched the forums and read the manual) - 2 parts>

1. I get a black picture from camera generated quicktimes in vista - I assume I need the redcode codec, i understand it is imminent for PC - is this true?

2. Workflow for pro tv stations - what do they do? Offline from these quicktimes? and then....what? (I have a guy wanting to know for whom I am shooting a commercial). Trawling the forums is a very inefficent way of learning about this - can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks a million

Quicktimes open in other mac applications here without any problems.

Greame can you confirm that the H QT file does a demosaic similar to the STANDARD quality inside REDcine? Does it take just 1 pixel for every 4 pixels of the R3D file to create a 2K image?

"H" does not demosaic. It combines together the red and blue with one of the greens.
