Hello,

I work in FCS with QT proxies of r3d files. In my FCS project i make one of clips(proxie) 150% faster, then, when i look in "item properties/timing" my in and out timecode is not the same that was before these speed changement.
My question is what i'll have in final EDL? Will it conform correctly? Or i should do something else?

Thank You.

Hi Ezis im gonna try to help you out.
Dont use proxys.
Transcode before you edit transcode to something like prores 422
you will be much much happier with the workflow and issues you wont have.

good luck.

Ok, i understand that now, but what to do if all project is already done using proxies? I have a full length film edited with proxies.

Whats your workflow for final output how do you want to conform?
Be prepaired to do it by hand.
Off the top of my head if you want to change speeds and ramps or something like that.

Transcode that clip, preferibly the entire clip and replace it into your sequence and work from that clip transcoded as a ProRes 422 HQ or Uncompressed clip if you have the speed and space.
That will reduce your issues.

Good luck.
And let me know what your workflow for final output is because using a proxy for the entire feature sounds challenging and will have its limits.

In output i should load my r3d files in to Assimilate Scratch for color correction, conform my editing using EDL,and after print on film. About sound - i have no sound in r3d files, all sound was syncronised after shooting with sound mixes from sound department.
But what should i do, if i have to do many speedups during editing? Should i mark all it by hand separately on the paper, is it really no way to automatise these process?

Thks.

Not a bad question.
Do you have your scratch person yet?
If you do you may want to check with them and see what they say.
If you dont I have a friend in Hollywood who has Scratch and Lustre
if thats no where near you im sure he would be willing to help you figure it out if you dont have your scratch person yet.
good luck.

We have our Scratch person, but he's not for more than 2 weeks, but i notice it now, and i try to ask questions before it begins a big problem)
