Hey guys, I was hoping that someone might be able to help me figure out how to get my data off two RAID-0 drives. I have an OWC SATA RAID case that houses two drives. The other day the power supply failed on me again (2d time in 15 months) The data on the drives should be fine (it was last time) but I have no way to access it until I get a new power supply. I was thinking that I may be able to stick both of them in my MacPro and have it read the RAID-0 formatting. However, I wasn't sure if that would work.

Any suggestions on how to get the data off for right now?

I'm just suggesting this, if it fails don't kill me.:sarcasm:

first, move (or reinstall OS in new hdd) your starup drive to IDE in the spare bay. How?

open the side of the Mac Pro, slide out the fixture that holds the DVD drive, place the IDE hard disk in the second slot (I put mine on top of a piece of foam with a electric static shock proof sheet), connected the spare IDE connector to the drive and spare power and slid it back in.

so you'll have four freed drive bay in your mac let you do combinations of even numbers of drives for RAID.

then, stick you two OWC SATA hdd on the bay(s) and TRY running them.

Hey Macville!

Main issue is whether Your enclosure had a HW RAID-0 or just a JBOD. Did it appear in Your system as a single drive when You have opened the disk utility? In which case You are out of luck until You get the new power-supply. If it did appear as two separated disks (JBOD) then You are going to be fine - and no need to re-install OS-X. I think Sky1walker misunderstood Your "2 RAID-0" as 4 drive setup. But maybe I am the one wrong thinking that You only have two HDD's in RAID-0 enclosure...

In either case You can "try" to connect the drives internally - just please do not accept "INITIATE" prompt if the system asks You! Instantly shut Your machine and remove the drives. Wait until You get the new power-supply...

You are correct. It was a 2 drive, hardware RAID-0 config. If it were JBOD then I would not have any issues. I was just hoping that OSX would notice the two drives and do a software RAID-0 for them, but that is pretty doubtful in my book.

Tried it tonight...didn't work:( OWC this morning said the case was out of warrenty and that was it. What's funny is 6 months after I bought the case the AC power adapter died...and just over 6 months since I got that adapter, it died. Obviously, they are using sub-par adapters for the case I got. I've got an dual IDE case from them that I've had no problems with. So I am thinking it's just this first version of their dual SATA case.

Maybe I can find someone else in town that's got the same case and I can use it to get my data off.

Did You look at a 3-rd party adapter? Take the enclosure to the local Radioshack and You might be surprised... Alternatively send the adapter for repair. I have fixed several apple's power supplies that refused to work just by re-soldering few burned contacts on the ECB... I looks ugly, but it works - and all You really need is to make it work for a day or two to backup Your data....
