  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pushing Dynamic Range to the limit

I cannot post the job we have just shot as yet... but we had huge success pushing the r3d's to the limits..

Bright lens, F1.2.. shoot wide open, 320asa or 800asa.. but just shoot wide open. push the shot out another 2 stops easly .. Dont use HDRX, you don't need it.

(note: the C300 or C500 has a better hi ISO range) I have tested them and they are clean around the 1200 ASA area. our F65 tests I did in the states this year showed no advantage over the EPIC in ASA.
The EPIC can do what you want, you will see noise (same as the f65) but its more than acceptable.

Here is a test in a very dark situation... shooting through a tinted car window as well...

And some more pre shoot tests...

Mark,
I love the low light frames you posted, but what do you mean by 2 stops in RCX? I trust you read my OP about the challenge I face with regard to the brightly lit water and dimly lit sculpture. what is your recommendation as far as how to deal with the DR needed to deal with these two extremes?
Steve
