Purple Sun Spot

We recently shot some tests with the Red, some of which were shot directly into the sun (which was behind the actor). Everytime we'd get a full shot of the sun, we'd get a purple dot right in the center.

Is this something to be expected? I don't think I've seen it before with my camera.

Discussed ad-nauseam. Purple sun on Red used to be much worse; now you really have to open up to make it happen, at least in my experience. But it is a known "feature".

I still get the purple sun with the latest build. Will it ever be fixed?

seems like redcine should be able to have a software adjustment for it.

so build 16 has the purple sun spot?

anyone have any tips for us? we will be out at Burning Man is about 10 days.

It's a definite purple dot so kind of easy to get rid of in post, but still annoying of course. Just shoot away at burning man and deal with it later, also it might not even appear, it doesn't appear every time..

key out the purple? with a basic color key? Ive done it quite a few times with the red and never had a problem yet.

oh yeah! I was overcomplicating it thinking I had to track it etc..
