Purchasing Vintage Lenses best practices for beginners

I’m about to purchase my first set of used vintage lenses (Canon FD’s w/SSC Coating). The focal lengths I’m interested in are 55m, 85m, 100m spherical and the 24m aspherical. Which I’m going to have Simmod Cine-Modify them. Other than fungus, smooth movement from the Focus Ring, Image Shift, and researching the seller, what other things should I know or ask the seller before making my purchase?

Also as I’m piecing together my set, so how close should each lens serial numbers be?
