I'm currently in post editing a music video and I was planning on using clipfinder to set up my proxy edit in FCP and then relink back to the original r3d files after picture lock. Some of the r3d clips created didn't have the regular proxies created for each single clip. I tried generating a qt proxies through clipfinder but not successful. Someone mentioned I should use REDCINE-X incase that didn't solve the problem. I've never used REDCINE-X before. So what is the proper workflow? I'm planning on using FCP 7 and doing the color grade in Apple Color?

Kyle,

You can generate proxies with RCX in the output tab, under create QT wrappers.

Select all of the clips. in the EXPORT panel of RCX SELECT create QT wrappers. Then export and the QT proxie files will be created.

David,

I know I've been a pain asking you these questions. After I get picture lock, do I send an edl or xml out of FCP back to REDCINE-X to convert back to the original files? I have some visual effect shots in the project and my main concern with them is making sure I have about 5 frames of handle length on the head and tail of each clip when I give it to my VSFX team.

Kyle...

create proxies in RCX

Open XML in Clipfinder, conform to proxies

set desired handles (globaly for project)

Choose "send to RCX"

Pre-grade/whatever in RCX

re-link to whatever with Clipfinder

Cheers
