Myself and Erik Espera of Silverado Studios would like to introduce the prototype of our custom fit protective cover for the RED One™, the "Camera Cozy."

The Camera Cozy is a snug fitting jacket designed to protected the finish of your RED from normal wear & tear, while providing convenient access to all of the camera controls. A cold weather Cozy and a hot weather Cozy will be offered, along with matching EVF & LCD covers. The Cozys feature 2 built in pockets that can hold things such as hand warmers or cold gel packs close to the camera body.

The pictures below are not representative of the finished product and we are still tweaking the final designs. We just wanted to give you a taste.

We're also designing additional accessories for the RED One™ as well as other professional camera systems. Shipping, website and pricing will be announced soon. If your interested in being put on our list for updates please send me a PM or email @ mike@vuze.com.

"Camera Cozy" patent pending

Looking good Mike...it's about time someone made a camera body wrap like that.

How about a camo cover for wildlife shooters, dark cover for winter, and light tan cover for warm weather?

There is a 35mm stills lens lens cover company that makes lens covers in various colors and patterns.

I think you guys are onto something very cool here for RED One - and I would guess Epic and Scarlet in the future.

Definitly Will Buy one

Definitly Will Buy one

WHEN, CANT WAIT FOR ONE GIVEN THE FACT THAT I SHOOT IN THE DESERT
MOST OF THE TIME, HAVE BEEN SHOOTING REGULARLY THE LAST SIX MONTHS AND HAVE TRIED VARIOUS COVERS JUST TO STOP tHE BLOWING SAND FROM GETTING IN THE CAMERA VENTS. OUCH.

We are working as quickly as possible to bring these covers to production. We plan to have a warm weather and cold weather protector. The warm weather will be a light color as Gibby suggested to reflect heat and store gel packs etc. The warm weather is what you see in the pics. Make sure to send us an email or PM to be put on our list for updates.

There is still a fair amount of R&D that Camera Tech's like myself will be getting on the "Cozy". Mike and Erik explained this is for Cold Weather climates to start like Northeastern US, Michigan, Canada, Colorado, Scandanavia, UK, etc.

I'm stoked to test this in Tahoe! Which isn't the coldest climate but would be a good start for Mike and Erik's prototypes.

Great design guys. I can't wait for the EVF cozy too:)

Goodluck,

Epic and Scarlet models will be made as well. We are still accepting beta testers as well so if you are in a cool climate and want to test the "Camera Cozy" drop me a line via email or PM.

I don't know if any of you have had a LCD screen freeze or a Red EVF go bonkers in the Cold.... It's very stressful for an AC and DP to have to deal with. I've had to tape hand-warmers on these device's in order to get them to work best semi-properly. Don't get me started on CF issues in the cold because of the contacts recessing.

The important part of the Cozy design is the big tabs for gloved AC's and Tech's to work from. I don't care how warm it keeps the camera or stylistic design. Is has to be simple for the Camera Assistant or DP to gain access to the small buttons with gloved hands. So we must Test-test-test and test again.

Looking forward to put the Cozy through the riggers.

Update: We will have a beta 'Camera Cozy' unit on display at The "Silverado" Booth on their RED camera. You can see it at the REDUSER party and other events that "Silverado" will be set up at. We are not selling any units or taking pre-orders. Just a taste for you all to check it out in person on the camera.
More information about the 'Camera Cozy' will be coming soon and the other accessories that will accompany it. Talk to Erik Espera at the 'Silverado' Booth for more info.

We currently have a Beta Camera Cozy on a feature shooting in the Aspen Mountains right now called "Cougar Hunting" and a few other demo units shooting in remote "COLD" climates as we speak getting great feedback and excellent results!

Congrats on the ongoing development progress! It looks excellent!

Do you plan on working out solutions for Scarlet/Epic? Any ideas on how to handle the very different dimensions possible for the bodies due to modularity?

Thanks,

Michael

We will be developing "Cozys" for Epic/Scarlet. We won't really know how to design for them until we get our hands on one. Fortunately for us Silverado is #27 & #28 in the RED delivery que so we will begin designing for it asap when delivered.

very neat. we would have used a white version of this out at Burning Man.

Mike
Hey Mike! Glad you like it! We will be making a white or most likely tan version for summer time as well that will be a more breathable fabric that you can store cold gel packs in the pocket over the heat sync and on the CF Module to keep the camera cool and reflecting the sun light off the camera body. I brought one of oir beta units out in the desert with me in a sandy environment and it worked great to keep the camera clean and sand free.
If you are gonna be at NAB come check it out. I didn't think I could make it out but looks like I might be able to do so now! Stop by and say hello either way.

Just got back home from NAB and wanted to thank everyone who came by to view the Camera Cozy at the reduser event! The overwhelming positive response put a fire under Erik and myself to get this product finished and into your hands asap! We hope to be shipping units in the next couple months.
We will keep you up to date in this thread with pics etc of the EVF cover and LCD cover with built in Hoodman as the prototypes finish up!
