Hi, I have a CF Weapon and have noticed that the R3D is recording to frame guides, but the ProRes files are recording a larger gate area inclusive to the Lookaround? However, when Lookaround is disabled, both the R3D and ProRes files framing match? It's my understanding that when Lookaround is enabled, it should not affect the recording area or framing? I have noticed this on a couple of jobs where the camera is set to 5kHD. I am running firmware 6.2.44 and using 512GB and 1TB mini mags. I have the Red Pro 5.0 screen attached via LEMO A adapter.

Also, is there a setting to specify 1920x1080 recording or 20148x1152? I see 2k or 4k in the menus, but my ProRes files are 1920x1080?

I appreciate any info. Thanks.

Joshua

whats the resolution with look around enabled vs lokaround disabled? both 1920x1080? jc, thanks

I just heard from Red and apparently this is how the system is designed to work. I find this confusing because the difference in framing could cause issues when going from a pro res offline to r3d conform. Hopefully there will be an option or fix so that prores and r3d always record the same gate and frame guides.

That's a terrible idea, that's not a feature, that's a bug. Unless we can choose for it to behave this way or not.

I want the r3d and QuickTime framing to be the same, cmon red!
