I am not able to get the ProRes 444 option in my Log and Transfer window in the new FCP. I get Native, ProRes 422 and 422 HQ, that's it. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Does it appear under the current RedAlert codec options ?

Or in RedCine for that matter. I'll try to be patient and wait for the plugin update.

After ingesting your media, you can configure your sequence settings by dragging a REDCODE clip into a new, empty sequence. Final Cut Pro automatically conforms the sequence compression setting to the Apple ProRes 4444 codec, which is the appropriate rendering format for REDCODE media.

Or :
Just simply Install.... RED Final Cut Studio 3 Installer from http://www.red.com/support

FCS 3 installer posted yesterday supports this.

Is it really ProRes 444? or ProRes 4444
Whats the difference.
I dont see an option for ProRes 444 only 4444 and the original ProRes 422s

When they say 444 they are referring to ProRes 4444.

Same thing - 4444 simply means it supports an alpha channel in addition to R,G & B.

444 - RGB, no chroma sub-sampling
4444 - RGBA, no subsampling.

Dom.

EDIT: Ha, Evin beat me to it! :)

Y'CbCr with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling when importing RED footage into FCP.

RED Final Cut Studio Whitepaper said:
Color Space When Transcoding with the Log and Transfer Window When you transcode RED media using the Log and Transfer window, the raw RED media is encoded as YʼCbCr image data whether youʼre transcoding to one of the Apple ProRes 422 codecs, or to Apple ProRes 4444. However, the chroma sampling will be different:

• If youʼre transcoding RED media to one of the Apple ProRes 422 codecs (Proxy, LT, 422, or HQ), then the RED media will be decoded as YʼCbCr image data with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling.

• If youʼre transcoding RED media to Apple ProRes 4444, then the RED media will be decoded as YʼCbCr image data with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling. Apple ProRes 4444 is capable of encoding either RGB or YʼCbCr image data, but always at 4:4:4.
