Red Team,

it's just clicked to me how you can get all the major software developers of NLEs (Adobe, FCP, Avid etc) to pick up the pace when it comes to staying up to date with the SDK and WANTING to make their apps have the best R3D support - give at least one member of each NLE development team a Red One camera (preferably with the M-X sensor), perhaps from the pool of traded in cameras to keep costs down.

See, when someone has a vested interest they tend to create support around a product much faster (and realise quickly the limitations of not having that support).

What inspired me was seeing this photo of Dave Helmley with a Canon DSLR rig:

And I got to thinking, this is why Red support is always so late for most NLEs. Because the developers don't have a vested interest in a high priced (relatively speaking) camera system they don't have first hand knowledge and access to on a regular basis.

Think of it a bit like sponsorship - a well placed camera in one or two of the right hands at these companies and I'll bet that you'll see greatly accelerated R3D support and toolsets before you know it!

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Paul

Or point them at me.

I've been a software developer/manager for Mac software and internet services for most of my professional life.

I live about a mile and a half from the Apple campus and less than ten from Adobe's downtown office.

I'd be happy to help them out.

Cheers,

Steve
