  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey everyone,

I recently shot my friend wakeboarding at 120fps in 4k. The final project will be a mix of red footage, go pros and dlsr's. All the other cameras were recorded in 24fps. I'm wondering is there a "proper" way to play my 120fps footage at normal real-life speed then slow it back down to its original 120 fps slowmotion on the same clip? I'm trying to figure out the best way to accomplish the popular effect of having something play at normal speed then suddenly slowing down to slow motion. I am in Premiere Pro CS6 and just wanted to know everyone else's input on this effect. Thanks, I greatly appreciate it.

I do that by key-framing/editing the speed graph in FCPX. I guess it's like that in any NLE. It's a bit tricky to find a good ramp curvature with some shots, but apart from that it's a few clicks. There is also a few plugins to do that just in case.

You interpret all your footage as 120 FPS footage - put it on a 24 fps timeline and use Speed/Duration dialog or Time Remapping to slow it down to 20%. You can drag the keyframes in the Time Remapping controls to gradually slow down/speed up.
