By taking output from Redcine exporting DPX 10bit 2048 X 1556, WHAT settings we must put to the last two parameters at the bottom under the ''format settings'' heading ??? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the Color Space settings?

This really depends on what your deliverable is. Are you going to film? Then you'll probably want RedLog. HD then Rec709 (or RedSpace). What is your project for (broadcast, the web, etc.)?

Thanks for your reply. I am going to print on 35mm film with the DPX files. According to you I will use the RedLog in the second box .What about the first one ?? Am I going to use the same indications for a laser film recorder and a CRT method?? Where can I find more information concerning those two settings ?? Thanks in advance.

When I use CameraRGB - RedLog, the picture seems very washed out. Why?

Are these settings relevant with the monitor's color settings?

We use Apple's 30" monitor and the color space is set to Adobe 1998 and D55 color temperature. Do we have to calibrate it differently?

Hi Spectral,

The best is to speak with the transfer house.

But i can tell you for shure i made a commercial that had been edited in HD 1080 24 fps on a normal broadcast monitor, and that was transferred to film, and it looked great, EXACTLY the same once transfered to 35mm from a TIFF image sequence.

But it is important you first speak to your transfer house.

Good luck.

Ive did some test with a dp for a short that will be blow in 35mm and we try many things as DPX output. One that we like was : Colorspace: Redspace Output: Red709 with our own curve adjusment.

We grade in Color and on the waveform the DPX seem to hold much of the information. Its not too milky as Redlog and not too contrasty like Redspace. But you have to fix the color a little bit, since we use Rec709.

I'm not an expert here, but I can tell you that Redlog will squeeze the info into a shorter range to help you retain more, hence the washed out look. You can see how this works when you look on your histogram.

To fix this you need a LUT you can apply to the footage in your grading suite software (as WeirdCrew already mentioned).

As has been said talk to your post house. They will, hopefully, know how to deal with this. If not, you can try posting whatever questions they have here.

Dose anyone know a good place for some LUT's to test with in AE or Color?
