Hello.

I am looking for an advice on projector here.

Since the purpose for the projector is just for me to watch movies and etc.. I do not need that high high brightness Barco offers...

What projectors do u use? Do you recommend any model?

Thanks!

ok.... not going rain on anyones parade here... But we did a mega test!!!! looking for the best 2k projector. (our budget was 10k each and we wanted two of them). We had all the sales repsb ring around there best Projectors and all of them witnessed the test.

Had the top shelf JVC, SIM2, Barco, Sony, Mitsubishi, BenQ, Optoma, panasonic, Epson, SharpVision & all working side by side next to each other.
Mechanically the JVC won with keystoning control, lens etc etc, The mitsubishi and Sony were next.

But the best over all performer, brightness, contrast, blacks, sound levels, everything was a the Epson. Yes.. the Epson. We were all shocked as we thought they made printers. TAlk about a dark horse. Plus we did not take it seriously becuase it was one of the smaller projectors and also the cheapest. So really we did not really think it had a chance.
I quite literally blew the rest away, and not buy a little bit either, aaaaaand it was the cheapest. Go figure??? bit like a RED camera.

Side by side testing is the only way to test cameras, projectors everything. We had 8 test projectors running at the same time through a HDMI amp splitter, feeding the same signal into each projector at the same time.
The Epson was so much better than the rest, it was noticeable in first few seconds of turning it on. All the reps agreed that the picture was the best on the day, But we all agreed the JVC was the best to do adjustments etc.
The EPSON was pure manual lens, not remote for the lens like the others. (no keystoning controls). Simply fixed by just fixing it flat. lens shift up down side to side is manual as well.

Thanks Mark. That's great real-world advice.

I can't find the Epson TW5500 for sale in the U.S. anywhere though?

I think the Epson TW5500 is the same as the Epson 9700UB in the USA.

I bought an Epson 720p Projector for my home theater 2 years ago. It's fantastic. I'm getting a 120-inch image, and it's not set back that far. I absolutely love it. And, it was only $900 or so. (I'm sure prices have come down.)

I know mine isn't a 2K projector, so it's a little off topic, but, I just wanted to give some props to Epson. I love my Epson projector.

Thank you for sharing this Mark. You da' MAN!

Way to go Epson!

Epsom makes the LCD panels in all the big name LCD projectors, no surprise that their image quality is good. The whole range of Epson's with the D7/C2Fine panel s are fantastic values at their given price level.

Can you be more specific on the models of each of these that you tested?
