  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

projector for home theater..

Panasonic PTAE-4000U is king as far as Bang for the BUCK.

Most definitely! I am a fan of DLP but this is the best projector for the price (around $2000) bar none. Of course you'll find better things if you're willing to go up to $7-10K, but the Panasonic AE series is awesome. I've got one on my living room and as soon as I move, I will install two of them with polarizing filters in my office to preview 3D. If you set up their colors, and they offer every adjustment you can wish for, side by side with a calibrated monitor as I did, you'll have something good enough to check color grading on, with discrepancies of less than 5% in the blacks and whites, and if you know you're bound to be ~5% off, eventually you'll learn to correct by eye and know exactly what you're looking at. The only projectors where I've found noticeable improvements over this one, though very minor improvements, cost at least 3 times as much.

Not the right time to buy a projector, wait until late September to see what new is available. Both IFA and CEDIA are just around the corner.
Both JVC and Sony are expected with new projectors (and probably everybody else).
