HELP. I did a 3 camera shoot the other day and the 3rd RedOne arrived just in time to shoot, but not in time for proper tech set up. I now have two at 23.976 and one a 24 fps and as you might expect they are not co-existing well on an FCP timeline. I tried doing a QT conversion in FCP but it still won't play nice.

Anybody got a suggestion for rendering out the 24 fps clips at 23.976? I only have synch sound on one of the 23.976 clips so this can be picture only. I plan to finish this project in ProRes but can do an intermediate transcode if necessary.

Many thanks in advance - Blair

Did you try using the 'conform' option in Cinema Tools? You can have Cinema Tools change the playback frame rate of a clip from 24fps to 23.976. It's virtually instant, no re-rendering required.

Do what ken just said,

If you already have your clips in Quicktime ProRes files at 24fps you can import into Cinema tools which will tell you the current frame rate and quickly convert to 23.976 extremely quickly.

Also not sure if this was talked about but the 24fps slowed told to play aka conform to 23.976 will be playing at a slower speed realtive to the native 23.976 footage. This will require you to slow the audio play rate over that area and it will stay in sync. The pitch change in the audio will not be anywhere near perceiveable. If it does concern you there should be a option to match the pitch back to the orginal playing speed. I've done this with PAL 50i and converted to 24fps no by doing this no one can hear the change and thats at about a 4 percent change. This will be a .001 percent change no one should be able to hear this.
