hi,
the dnxhd mxf's we're exporting from redcinex don't have an avid project association in their metadata embedded. that makes data-management very complicated. in general we use randomvideo's mediamover to sort out finished projects but it's useless because all files from redcinex show up as "no project name"... it's the same in avid's mediatool where the project column is blank for all those files.
adding a projectname to the metadata in redcine x doesn't work either, still no project association within avid mc. the only way i'm aware of adding projectname-metadata afterwards is to consolidate all files within the avid project - but that's no real option with tons of files...
is there something we're missing here???

For now, project association is only done when a file is created within Media Composer - either via tape capture, import, consolidate, transcode or render. It is not part of the Avid AMT (SDK) which is used in RedCine X to allow that to happen - same for 1/4 frame audio addressing when files are used in a 35mm/4-perf project. These are requests that have been on the Avid AMT Backlog. If and when it happens is up to Avid to implement first in the SDK. I'll check into again to see if there have been any updates in this area.

thanks Michael, even if it's not what I was hoping to hear, at least I don't have to investigate on that further...

This was posted two years ago, and I think I still know what the answer is. I also came across your post from last year MichaelP on your personal site "No Source on Clips" and this was still a feature request.

Has there been any development on Avid project association via Redcine-x?

I have been "PROJECT" metadata in MXF files created by more recent versions of Resolve. I believe Avid updated their AMT to allow that to happen. I need to confirm that is what I am seeing, but I thought I noticed that. If Resolve can do it, then the RED team should be able to as well. They can try reaching out to someone at Avid to confirm.
