  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ProEXR for Premiere

Hey everyone, I just wanted to tell you that I've released a new version of ProEXR with the Premiere plug-in included, so I took down the beta plug-ins. The release is almost identical to the beta you were using, although I did figure out a fix for the playhead start time issue I mentioned before. Thanks for your feedback, and I hope you continue to enjoy using it.

Hi Brendan, I'm trying to get the openexr z-depth mask working on CS6 ... i think the file "ProEXR AE" needs to be placed somewhere new? Have you done any testing with cs6 and using the zdepth part of openexr?

You should be able to read a depth channel (or any other channel) with stock After Effects, which ships with several of the ProEXR plug-ins. Create a comp with the EXR file, apply the EXtractoR filter, and click on the channels readout to get an interface for picking channels. Do you see your depth channel as an option?

I might be doing this wrong, but normally I see a option in the AE "file" menu to convert the openexr into this little folder thing, and inside that folder I see the z-depth broken out as a separate"file". I currently don't see that conversion option (It would be real nice to see the zdepth as a menu option when i select a file ... i.e. like "red" ). I don't want to burn any of your cycles, I will wait till this Monday (May 7th is the cs6 official release date I heard) and will test with the full production version of CS6. I will report back if I see any problems then.

Oh right, that. Yes, that is a feature you get from installing the "ProEXR AE" plug-in, which does not ship with After Effects. Download it as part of the ProEXR package. You don't need a serial number to use the ProEXR Comp Creator.
