Has anyone had problems with shooting the color Red? Actually a light red. Looking at a 24" LCD monitor through HDMI on set it was obvious the color red was not the true color of the shirt, but I thought it was just a problem with the setup of the monitor or saturation setting of the camera. The shirt looked pink. After looking at the RAW file in RED Alert and RED CINE it was pink. And it's hard coloring the pink to red without altering the skin tones in Final Cut Pro and RED CINE. And suggestions...

scenario:

Build 15. version 2.2.1
Lighting: tungston
set: 3200K
ASA 320
Stop: 2.8 (T3)
Shutter:1/30 Sec.

Color gain Settings:

Red 1
Blue 1
Green 1

Saturation: 1

I've found a fix with the HSV Adjust filter in FCP. But it was just weird, that it rendered it so pink. Any ideas why and any suggestions to fix the problem in the future?

This is covered in the thread about IR sensitivity.

The short story is that IR wavelengths present in some situations (lit by certain tungsten fixtures) manifest themselves as magenta, especially on objects already reflecting red.

Fix for now is an IR reflecting "hot mirror", some are working on getting those made in standard filter sizes.

Thanks for the advice guys, a hot mirror is on my list of filters. I've only found screw on type filters though. Anyone know of larger size hot mirrors?
