So I just got a new 300mm lens from red and for whatever reason, I cannot get a visual on either the EVF or on board monitor. Any help would be great! Nim new to red BTW.

You are taking the lens cap off, right?

Not sure what you mean by "a visual"... If light is going through the lens, you should see something unless you have something obstructing the sensor or light path. Look through the lens, see if the iris works. The lens does not transmit any metadata or electronic info to the camera.

maybe something in the filter holder on the lens?

Could be. Maybe they put something in there to protect the clear glass filter that ships with it? Been so long since I got mine, I don't recall if there was something there or not.

A new RED Pro 300mm arrived here just after Christmas - There are no iData links, it's just a dumb lens (well actually it's brilliant…). Also there was nothing obstructing the filter tray, an optically clear screw in filter was included.

tadeo garcia did you get it figured out? what was the problem?
