Problems Saving RED PDFs to Desktop

For some time, I've been having trouble saving RED Operation Guides to my desktop for reference when internet is unavailable. Some of my previously saved older Ops Guides open fine and PDFs from other sources save and open fine. I have deleted my previous Adobe Reader and have upgraded to the newest version (XI). Each time I try to open a newer Ops Guide that has been downloaded to my desktop via Save As, I get a message saying that the PDF was either created by an unauthorized program or was damaged. This is true for both my laptop (Mavericks) and desktop (Mountain Lion).

Any ideas?

Got it! Dueling Adobe PDF Viewer Plug-ins. Pulled them both out of the Internet Plug-ins folder and all is well.
