  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi there. New at the forum.

We got several systems here at the studio, and a couple of them are almost exactly the same regarding hardware specs, though admittedly I cannot guarantee CODECs installed are exactly the same in all of them.
Intel Xeon, 8 cores, with 4 Gigs of RAM, Nvidia Quadro 3400/4000.

One of them is exporting from Red Cine without any problems (we don´t dare touching that one at all!) but the others work perfectly with the app until we try to export to anything, which renders beautiful black frames once and again. Not even one good frame comes out.

It is quite confusing for us watching several systems with the exact same hardware, and one works but none of the others do...

Considering we got to do quite a lot of exporting for VFX we could really go with several systems instead of just one for this task.

I´m reading several threads around about black frames, but none of them get answered! Does it mean this is a impossible to solve case?
I really hope not...

Thanks for the hint. Still no money.
I am trying to replicate the differences I see between both logs. Already matched QT codecs and resolution but still getting black screens from any render at any res and with any format. Smells like a graphic card problem, and I still have to deeply try the Nvidia drivers issue to supposedly be an exact copy of the other system, at least regarding REDCine...I´ll be back with the result.
I uploaded the log at the proper thread.

Ok lads. For anyone in a similar situation I was, I solved it.
The "can´t draw OpenGL because of lack of memory buffers" error gave me the hint. It´s a problem with using dual display. As soon as I went to single screen display, REDCine exported flawlessly, and of course the log doesn´t show OpenGL errors anymore.
It´s a bit weird considering I´m using a Quadro card, but it´s obvious that´s the problem.
Just so that RED guys and anybody on dual screen PCs know it.

And a bit more knowledge on the issue. It doesn´t happen if you have the whole dual desktop as just one horizontal desktop. It just happens if you choose to have both of them as independent desktops.
The problem with using just one horizontal desktop is that REDCine puts the image just in the center, where the separation between monitors is, and any app where you maximize the windows, fills both screen, which is quite uncomfortable.

On a PC RedCine can't render at full resolution?

On a PC RedCine can't render at full resolution?

I wonder if anybody ran into same problem. As I try to render R3D files out of RedCine on XP at Full resolution, all I get are just black frames. It happens with any selected output format. Half and Quarter resolution work just fine. On the MacBook Pro I can render the same R3D files at any resolution with no problem whatsoever. Video card on the PC is nVidia NVS440. Could that be the problem? Any ideas?
