Hi,

I'v not tryed my BT R1, cause red Europe hadn't in stock the 18in EVF cable I'v order, so I'm only learning the menus...

I'v noticed that when I try to navigate in the menus, if I need to use the juystick to the right, have to do it several times for the meno to change, if I do it in any other directions, it work well at first press of the joystick, the only problem occurs when I press it to the right.

Just have sended an email to my Bomb Squad rep. and waiting his reply...

Does anyone have this problem?

It should work equally well in all directions - so you did the right thing contacting Red.

I believe they may be on holiday now until 2nd January - certainly Red Europe is.

Another tip - instead of trying to press IN to select menu items or to OK selections, just press DOWN on the joystick - much easier!

Until it gets repair, you can probably work around the problem by turning the joystick 180 degrees before pressing it in the direction that fails. That may help.

Mine did the same thing. The problem was the joystick button was in too far, and contacted the body before the electrical contact was made inside the camera. I loosened the screw on the button and pulled the button out a very small way from it's previous position and tightened the screw. Problem solved. Put a thin strip of paper on the right side of the joystick and press it full travel. While holding the joystick at full travel, try pulling the strip of paper out. If it comes right out, you have good clearance. If it sticks or drags, reposition the joystick button on the shaft until the strip comes out freely. Hope this helps.

Vance is totally right - his post just reminded me this was an issue on some Red Ones in the past. The hex grub screw is tiny - although the smallest 0.9mm (0.035") hex key supplied in the bolt set from Red does fit it, it's worth buying a higher quality precision one from Wiha or Wera or similar manufacturers as it's easy to strip the head.

Also worth using a drop of Loctite Threadlock on the grub screw to stop it coming loose. Use the weakest Threadlock 243 (red in colour), so that it's still possible to unscrew if necessary.
