Hello. I am wondering if anyone else out there received a defective Optitek Nikon Pro Lock. I am at my wit's end with this and I am looking for some advice. I ordered the Optitek Nikon Pro Lock back in mid November 09 and received it mid Dec 09. When I received the mount, only 2 of the 8 holes lined up, hmmmm, from what I can see this was supposedly a CNC machined mount, so I'm not sure why the holes didn't lineup. Anyway, I was in desperate need to get this mount working as I had a shoot in 2 days. I called Jacek to discuss the problem and he said he wasn't sure what happened. He suggested that in the mean time I ream out the holes to make it fit and he would send me a new one. Aaaah, Ok, I'm going to have to ream my new $750 Optitek Nikon Pro...... off I go to find a demel tool! After a few hours of reaming the holes, I managed to get it mounted to the camera. Because the holes had to be reamed, there is quite a bit of play in the mount, however, this was what I needed to get it to work.

SO now it's almost May and after many emails and promises that the mount is, "out of stock", " it's en route, "I've been away", "I'm shipping it tomorrow", just all lies.

I am very frustrated with how some people run their businesses. All I want is a new mount, one that works out of the box. I would seek legal action, but unfortunately, it's not worth the effort since I live in Canada.

Sincerely,
Kelsey W.

Kwan, sent you a PM.
Guys,
Just so we are clear let me give you my take on this:
First of all there is a reason my name is not Amazon or Wall Mart -I'm a very small business that offers specialized products to the film making community. I try to design them to offer unprecedented value to the working professionals. And they do it seems-I'm getting great feedback from my customers and try to be responsive to feedback as well.
I don't make huge part orders and don't stock much inventory because a:I can't afford it, b: I don't sell enough to justify it. The products I make are essentially made to order. I don't think I can now go back to the machine shop and tell them to refund my money because I changed my mind. This is what you asking me to do. You've made the commitment when you ordered and made the deposit- what that means is you promised that you were going to follow up with purchase. You did not do that. I did not harass you with emails to make good on your promise because I just decided to move on. I only politely sent you reminders every couple of months in case you forgot.
Here are the facts:
I asked for 20 or so commitments and to put your money where your mouth is so I spend time and money on design and have at least that -20 buyers. I stated the projected price clearly to the depositors before they paid.
I got the deposits and used them for R&D. They are fully credited towards the purchase of the product that you ordered and promised to pay for.
What this is telling me is that I did not have 20 buyers but I was led to believe that I did.
Fortunately I had the deposits to cover the cost-I have enough experience to secure that at least. I'm the victim here to be clear....

Times 2 on the no refund when requested. Been requesting a $100 deposit refund made on March 2009 since about November last year.

How about purchasing as promised David:thumbdown:
Peace

Right.

I think eight months was a long enough wait. I'm not engaging in this further publicly, but it appears that I am not the only person who has this issue with your company.

Cheers.

David

PS: For the record this is not about a hundred bucks, please feel free to keep it, as you have already chosen too because you believe you are correct. Obviously the hundred dollars and what you believe is far more important than maintaining customer relationships.

How about some accountability to your vendors when you commit to purchase...
I deal with it every day...
FYI I offered a free loaner from the protos and some guys took advantage of it when they were in a bind. All they did is asked for it. I offered them to everyone.
I'm not Amazon- I don't have a 30 day return policy- I don't believe RED has that either... I will however assure flawless operation and total satisfaction with my products- I would like to be treated this way sometimes...
It takes time to refine a product- this site is the ideal testimony to that-would you rather have half-solution?

Quotes:Here's another vote for the Optitek Nikon ProLock. You will be very glad you spent the little bit of extra cash.
Optitek Nikon mount is a must have!
The Optitek is a great system, not only do you gain an iris ring, more importantly it uses a positive locking mechanism ( like a vistavision cameras Nikon mount ) that lets you hold the lens absolutely steady, versus a stills style mount that depends on leaf springs.

No Brainer if you use Nikon glass.

Here's my .02 . If I remember this was purely an indepenent initiative from a few users who wanted a better alternative to the RED mount. Jacek decided to help us out. We funded the project and he made the mount for us. We actually needed a professional product tailored to our needs and we got it just by writing and taking through e-mails and a forum. I find that pretty cool.
It was also nice that we were involved in the development process and some users offered sugesstions that were incorporated onto the final design of the mount. And now everyone has access to this better product and can use it safely without busting their warranty.
Yes it might have taken a little more than planned but we all waited a long time for the RED to be actually out of development and into our hands. And RED is 100+ persons while Optitek is but a handful of people probably.
Users of this forum, more than others should understand this.

@ Mike... I certainly disagreed and I don't want to talk over this please...
@ Jacek all I want my $200 refund without any more excuse please.
