Hi guys,

Yesterday this happened.

This was spread over quite a few clips from this Redmag. I then did Black shading and they disappeared. But why did it appear in the first place? Has anyone else had the same experience? Quite worried about this.

Thanks,

Antonio

P.S. I have the latest firmware (not Beta) and this was a job. I won't get a second chance to shoot this and will have to magnify the footage until banding disappears.

Last time I have seen this was with CF card on RED ONE. It was a data corruption. Re-formating the media is far more important to this then black-shading. If this persists - contact your rep - it might need SSD side-module or the media replacement...

Also - there is no need to magnify the footage. How many frames did this appear on?
If is it on a few frames spread apart - this can be repaired by something like NUKE + Furnace FrameRepair.
If You end up in a tight spot - I might be able to fix it for You - just contact me via email to petermajtan(at)mac(dot)com

Hi Peter, most helpful reply, thank you. This was only spread over a few frames here and there. Absolutely agree with the re-format route.

I will be checking clips one by one for a while now and if it persists I will have to contact RED.

Cheers

I had this same issue just recently. It wasn't on every shot it just seemed to happen randomly. I would contact Red immediately. I had to send my camera in. Hopefully yours won't be the same issue

Contact RED right now - trust me, don't wait to have it happen again… Do you have the log file from that mag? send them the log file and some of the corrupt frames; they know what causes this and will fix it.

There will be a file on the mag (usually the first file) that has a name like this: 102-6D5-8CE_log.txt (your numbers will be different but it will end in: _log.txt). when you open the file it will be goddledegook like this:

ˇÁß;{¶/©Ê É⁄#“°fié1ôëéTD!p.b^˛aCرą. on and on.
