Shooting two Epics on a commercial this week and I am having issues with the audio at the VTR guy. There is a crackling in his audio. We have switched every input output in the whole system trying to trouble shoot it. When I disconnect the video from camera it goes away. Is there a grounding issue or some type of interference issue that I am not aware of?

Also the embed audio over HD SDI is sped up. Sounds like the chipmunks talking.

Audio sample rate mismatch plus, possibly, incorrect word clock. The word clock problem will cause the crackling and the incorrect sample rates will cause the chipmunk effect. Audio for video should be 48khz, 16 or 24 bit. Make sure he is sending audio to those specs. Anything else (sent via AES or embedded SDI) will be incorrect.

Also, if the source deck has another format going into it's inputs, that could cause jitter as well. So make sure any gear in the chain is set to all the same clock/burst... all the way through, even if the inputs of the machine you're outputting from are not being used. Make sense?

More info on the setup might help, that's just off the top of my head.
