Hi Gang,

Hoping someone here can shed some light on my problem.

Shot a short 12 minute interview on my Scarlet-X @ 4k 6:1, ... used audio in the camera W shotgun mic.
Made color adjustments in RCx just like I have with previous projects.

I typically will edit strait off of the raw file in FCPx and never had an issue previously.

This time however, I'm trying to export to 1080 for a small web render as I have done in the past.
But it want's to render a 1.6 GIG file !!!
Other projects, even on My Epic-W @ 6k I render out a 10 minute short and it'll render a 250 meg file.

Anyone know what I'm missing here???? maybe the Red audio file is screwing things up in the render???

Cheers,

Curtis

Depends on your Project settings. Plus you can change the codec on export. But 1.6GB sounds about right for a Prores output.

Trying to do a 1080 H264, not prores, ..

I would recommend encoding elsewhere using the X264 encoder. Handbrake is pretty good.

But if you do stay inside FCPX, perhaps create a new Share preset for H.264.

Thanks for the help, ...

for some reason creating a new share preset helped.

thanks again

I usually export as high as possible from FCPX then let other apps do the crunching.

Adobe Media Encoder and Compressor does the trick for me.

I also find this method to be actually faster.

you get used to it when clients want multiple versions for everything under the sun at all times :)
