  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pro Res Borders

Look at the aspect ratio section of the Manuel, or turn on guides in the menu. No, full frame 6k is not 16:9.

Shoot 6K HD for a full 16:9 frame.

Which ever program I use to export 6K files to pro res there are borders on the pro res files top and bottom. What am I doing wrong, does 6K not fill 16:9?
Read Brad Allen's Aspect Ratio Cheat Sheet:

unravel.com.au/files/Unravel_Resolution_CheatSheet.pdf

All will be explained. Pick the pixel size that fits your aspect ratio. And shoot with a custom viewfinder reticle that tells you exactly how the image will be framed in projection or final delivery.

Thanks.

In you export settings / output resolutions, Set resolution that suites the original aspect that you originally shot.

For EG: If you have shot 6k 2:1.. and you want a 2k PRORES file, set the custom export to 2048x1024 which is 2:1 ratio.
Same goes with 16:9 aspect ratios.
If you want 16:9 ratio but originally shot 2:1 or Widescreen you'll get bars top and bottom, You can pan an scan in RCX as well.. but whats the point. You can do that in the edit suite and keep your original scaling.
