I've heard rumors of a Red Pro I/O box of some sort coming out in the near future for the Epic. Is there any truth to this? It would be great to get access to some real XLR jacks, as well as more than one SDI-HD out. Maybe even the ability to have the Touchscreen LCD AND the EVF Bomb working at the same time? Too much?

Is there a picture or rendering of what this module will look like and how it will interface with the camera? Is it like the Redmote or Quad Battery pack where it gets stuck on the end of the camera?

Of course things may be different now, but here are some early images.

I don't like the looks of those recessed BNC jacks. I have relatively small fingers, and that looks like it's going to be no fun to get BNCs in and out of there. I hope this is going to be improved upon somehow by the time the production model comes out.

I really wish they had a small version with mini XLR and bnc connectors. I know, heresy. I just don't want such a large module off my camera.

Red is planning to have I/O module as oppose to I/O Pro
I/O will have mini XLR as I red here on this forum.

I gather there will also be a 'Basic' I/O module as well as the 'Pro'. I guess this might be more compact?

Really need pro audio pre amp and xlr connectors. Red one did this well with the audio board upgrade.

Assuming this is still in the works. It hasn't been mentioned for awhile and was not part of the recent update from Jarred.

Not sure whats on the other side of this unit, but I'd like to see it half the size (or less if possible) with the hookups distributed to both sides...

That would put cables running into the operators head, please no cables on the smart side of the camera.

The camera is still probably going to be smaller than a R1, Alexa, or any other option with this module. It has processing power in it id assume, dpi doubt it is getting much smaller.

Personally, I find it difficult to understand the delay on this accessory... Epics have been working for over a year; there are thousands out there. I still see DPs, cameramen, ACs, directors, etc. highly surprised when they are told that it's not possible to have the EVF and LCD working simultaneously, or that the camera has just two minijacks for audio. And very little, almost nothing is said about the module, no renders, no pics... quite disappointing.

This module and DRAGON will be make-or-break additions to the DSMC family. I (for one) am OK with them taking the time to get it right.
