  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pro I/O Module vs Base I/O Module

since I doubt the first batch will reach down my way @ 1350 i would like to have the pro I/O for group 2 as an option as well

It's called sell it to someone else and use that money to upgrade :)

I don't think folks should get spoiled by the fact that RED is allowing full trade-in on RED One's towards EPIC X.. They are taking care of their early customers and making sure they are brought under the umbrella of "obsolescence obsolete" that they originally stated back in the days of the RED One.

But, if they start allowing everyone to trade in modules and brains and such to upgrade to the latest version(s), they'll likely go broke, and there won't be a company for us to buy stuff from :)

later,
Jason

No one is talking about trading in the base i/o. The suggestion is that we be allowed to purchase the pro i/o for the difference in price. There is no cost to Red to do this, and lots of demand, so I hope (and suspect) that it will happen. It makes sense not to manufacture a bunch of modules that will sit on shelves. That's wasteful and does not help either Red or Red users.

Now from what i gather there is digital 4 channel input on the pro module. what about the analog? is there 4 xlr inputs as well? fitting all that would make this module quite large unless they limit it to two xlr inputs.

Hahaha. I kind of hope RED doesn't offer that deal. I'll be one of the hordes lined up to try and cash in on a discount Base I/O deal from REDOne Customers.

You're not alone, I'd be happy to compliment my fixed 8x Scarlet with a base audio module so I wouldn't need a boom operator with a tascam that runs out of 8 batteries at a time usually at the worst possible moment

The Pro Tools I/O Module provides eight channels of digital audio input and output for the ADA-8 or ADA 8XR in a form compatible with Digidesign Pro Tools 24|MIX workstations.
The Pro Tools I/O Module enables the ADA-8 and ADA-8XR to replace Digidesign 888|24 or 882 interfaces, providing superior audio performance and extra features.

I'd be interested in knowing this, too. RED has done a fabulous deal for Stage 2, but the way I see it, 95% of people are going to want the Pro I/O module. So, why put the base module in that package? Honestly, I would rather pay an additional upgrade fee to bypass getting the base module and instead get the pro module. I wonder if RED is considering this?

All of this is said with very limited information on the differences between the two. Maybe someone from RED can clarify a bit. I would just hate the total waste that will be caused if they send out 3,000 base modules as part of that package that don't get used.

Here here! Epic's a pro camera. If we want the Pro I/O Module, I can't see why RED wouldn't allow us to do that!
