As my S-W allocation hopefully nears, I'm trying to figure out what to do monitor-wise.

I picked up the DSMC2 7" LCD back in Feb when I also picked up a used Scarlet-X. I've always planned that when the S-W arrives, that monitor will go on the S-W and I'll use something else for the S-X, potentially the new 4.7" monitor.

But it also occurs to me that I don't *need* the touchscreen for the S-X as it will be B-cam and therefore used less than the S-W.

I was looking at the battle tested section on the Red store and they have a non-touch old 7" at a good price: http://www.red.com/store/products/red-pro-lcd-battle-tested

So my questions are these:

1) are there any differences in the panel used in these old displays versus the new ones? Same resolution?

2) what would be my best bet for mounting this? It comes with a 9" noga arm, but I've really loved the ease of attaching the newer style display and the friction-only hinge. I vaguely remember someone posting a monitor mount somewhere on Reduser recently that was kinda similar in size and function to the hinge on the newer 7" display. Some kind of quick release mechanism would be amazing too.

Are you planning to use the sidekick or side handle to control the camera? Touch is really convenient.

Since you are in So. Cal, perhaps you can stop by RSH and check out the two displays, assuming they have both on display.

Yeah, I have the side handle and currently I use that mostly, only going into touch to navigate into deeper menus. for changing fps, iso, etc, I almost exclusively use the side handle.

Good point on the store. I'll bob in and see if I can look at them both side by side and see what I think.

I would call the store before you go, not sure if they have the BT equipment in stock there. The new display is better, obviously it's much newer. I think that BT one is from the R1 days.

For an arm check out the Bright Tangerine arm.
