Hi,

I have a friend that has a complete set of RED Pro Primes, less the 50mm. He bought it hoping they would return production, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

We are looking for a 50mm PL lens that will cut well with the rest of his RED Pro primes set.

What are people's thoughts on lenses that match then well?

Unfortunately, budget is a limitation, so master primes, leicas and cookes S4 and S5 are a bit of a no go.

I have tried looking for a used 50mm RED Pro Prime, but I could not find any.

Thanks in advanced for your help!

I have a full set of RPP's 18 through to 300mm - use them all the time on my own jobs here in the studio... There are times where I shoot two cameras with the same Focal length; one cam will have an RPP, the other will have a RED Zoom, either the 18-50 or the 50-150. Cuts together fine, with a slight post adjustment.

I know a Zoom isn't a Prime, but a RED zoom may be easier to find?

Thnaks Glen, but unfortunately, RED doensen`t sell zoon lenses anymore, they only have the 18mm and the 300mm primes. I guess I could try to find some used 17-50mm lens, but would like a prime option better.

Wich nikon glass are you referring to Eric? the G nikon glass, or nikkor? We are looking for PL lenses. Is there anyone that can convert nikon lenses to PL. I know that ducloes does that with the Tokina, but will he do it with any lens? What about GL optics?

I was considering these options:

Canon Cine 50mm (although they only have EF mount, i guess duclos will eventually have the multi mount option for then)

50mm Zeiss compact prime

Shneider (Cine XenarIII or Xenon FF Prime)

Any Still Glass (If they can be converted to PL) maybe the new zeiss Otus, or the sigma Art could be good options.

Among all these options, what do you guys think would be the best option?

I just threw it out there Rodrigo Prata because I see those RED zooms come up for sale more often than the RPP's. Just thought it could be an option... especially if you think of it as a 'Variable' prime, rather than a zoom...
