Hi!

Have anyone heard of these Prime Circle lenses? I think they just came out, but I haven't seen anyone talk about it yet.

Looks like Zeiss ZF2 Modified. Might be a good alternative to Cinema Lense!
What do you guys think?

I think it's great for people who have spent all their money on a scarlet and looking for a professional looking lense. I'm not sure about the price yet tho!

I've basically done the same thing to my Zeiss ZF lenses. Removing the aperture ring to de-click the lens is a breeze, installed Leitax adapters (beautfiul and also a breeze), slapped on lens gear of choice, and common fronted my lenses with jump rings. Bought new front and back caps from Amazon, and the whole "mod" is about $120 or so. Cheers!

Watched/read what I can find, but there can be issues with slackness and springs etc apparently that is making me wait till I have the time to buy some either buy some UGLY versions of KEH and experiment, or can afford to pay Duclos or RPlens to do it for me.

Best

The last I heard, the Duclos Cine-Mods are $250 per lens. This includes de-clicking the aperture, 80mm front and a derlin focus gear. So for a little more than the price of the Prime Circle order, you can have your lens professionally modified, and not have to guess at what you're doing. Of course you are welcomed to rock out with your own mods, if you are mechanically inclined and are of brave spirit! Rock on!

I was curious and had read as much as i could find about modding my own zeiss zf's. I was nervous about screwing up my lenses, but then someone commented in a thread: 'real men de-click their own lenses' :) and the rest is history.
I really can't speak for all lenses, but the Zeiss ZF turns out to be child's play!
- unscrew the back mount using a good phillips screwdriver
- take off the mount carefully
- the aperture ring comes off easily, observe how the ring is oriented for easy re-installation
- there is one tiny bearing stuck in the wall of the lens, just take it out (and save it if you want to reverse the mod)
- use a silicon based grease, to lubricate the aperture ring at the ribs, don't overdo it though > i ended up using a teflon lube for the boating industry
- screw it back together, the aperture mechanism has to fall into place, observe the spring mechanism falling into place as well
- you just added the ability to end a scene with an iris-out!!! and can call yourself a man (if you are that is)

Would love to hear Matthew Duclos' opinion about these.

Same method works for the Rokinon. Took less than 5 minutes.
