Prices for Zeiss Standard Speeds?

[David Cho]

What do you think about $15,000 for a package of five newly maintained Zeiss Standard Speed lenses? Also, is it true that there is only 1 version/mark of standard speeds, whereas superspeeds have 3 versions/marks?

*Dear Mods, could you please move this to the lens section? Thanks*

Do you have a web link or anywhere that I can find information about the 2 versions?

I e-mailed Matthew at Duclos Lenses and he says,
"There is only one version of the Zeiss 2.1 primes. There are several (depending on who you ask) different versions of the T1.3 prime lenses that came after the T2.1 primes."

According to Cinematechnik's excellent Zeiss lens history

there are 2 versions of the 35mm "standard speeds". The first is in Standard mount and T2.2, the newer is PL mount and T2.1. I guess the difference should be easy to spot.

Easy way to tell the Zeiss standard MK1 from the MK2 is the MK2 has a 32 dp gearing on the iris just like the focus ring. The MK1 has more a knurled ring that no gear will fit to.
