Let me explain :

- Red Scarlet had its price Drop
- Red Epic had its price drop (45% !!! I can remember lot of members were almost dead inside the day it happened.)
- Red MX battle tested has been sold for 4000 USD.

BUT

The price of the red one M to MX upgrade is still the same from the beginning : 5750 USD !!!!

Please red if you read me, can you explain ? In details please.

Thanks for everything.

Red One is EOL, you should have bought a BT R1 if you wanted MX.

LOL - love the way you've written that. makes me think of Epic Zombies...

As far as I know the upgrade price point is still the same currently. But at these current price points if one has the money getting a Scarlet or Epic is probably a better option. Even if one doesn't have the money (myself included) you can lease it and pay monthly. I am seriously considering selling my brain and jumping into an Epic lease.

I take it you still have an M sensor then? I mean getting a BT Red One MX when they weren't out of stock would of been cheaper, then you could of had a backup brain. So that was your best deal in hindsight. Right now it probably makes more sense to go DSMC if you want MX for that kind of cash. Buy a used Scarlet brain perhaps?

Well, first, the MX sensor is still a relevant piece of inventory for RED, since it is used in Epic and Scarlet. So, no discount there.

Next, the M to MX upgrade is very probably pretty labor intensive. Doesn't make sense for RED to discount labor costs.

RED refurbished the ONEs and sent them out as BT as an inventory clearance measure; saved warehouse space, took in revenue that was otherwise not there, and created a bunch of RED customers for peripherals like SSDs, batteries, etc. Meanwhile, upgrading and old R1 at a loss doesn't make sense for them.

So - there you have it.

Ho, really ?

So tell me WHERE the 15500 USD price drop on the Epic is ? On the metal body ? On the Canon mount ?

Or maybe, on the MOST important parts of the camera :

- Sensor
- RED Chipsets
- RAMBUS memory
- Time to made the product

That's it ?

You can't make pricedrop on everything, except on the sensor remplacement for the old Red one.

It DOESN'T make sens AT ALL.

With the sensor, it is still a relevant inventory part. They can use it in all of their current cameras. Why would they want to send it out the door at a discount?

Motivation may play a paret as well - why should they do it, other than to please the few folks that have waited an eternity to upgrade their R1s.

Wow, first you tell members including me , what they should charge for their camera packages....
as well as telling folks how they should advertise...
then you passed on the deal of the century from that guy in aus...
now your going to tell red what they should charge?

I am really beginning to wonder what your motivation to be on here is ....

there are a bunch of new members who are very frustrated .
that they did not get to buy a 4000.00 bt red mx...

Thats the breaks... That doesn't mean. A red mx is worth 4000.00

the market dictates prices , you are not the only person I have seen on here as of late ,
who has berated people for selling their red mx's for more than that .

not long after you sent me a email about how my package was small " how you have seen it , I'll never know ! "

i got a buyer who had been looking , and was very grateful to buy that package for
what I was asking .
