my final delivery is going to be SD or 720p at best. is it possible to utilize these 100 GB CF card for red's 1920x1080 resolution?

RED does not shoot 1920x1080. Best bet is to shoot 2K and crop to 1920x1080 in post.

The cards should work for 2K, but not for all frame rates. Being that they are claimed to be 233X, which is too slow in itself for most RED shooting modes, they probably can't sustain the full 233X with low enough latency for real-time camera communication over extended periods. In other words, I'm betting they don't work worth a crap. But if the price is right, might be worth a try just to see. Maybe they will work OK in controlled environments for 2K @ 24fps.

I'm wondering if in short takes of like, maybe a minute or under, the cards could work without dropping frames.

Could be a something one wants in their kit for non-critical stuff like home movies or something.
