  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Prepare yourself...

jim,

please, if its at all possible, dedicate some effort in this new announcement to clarifying the status of the "original" fixed lens scarlet and what it has become, what it will include, and what it will potentially cost.

when the 3k for 3k scarlet was initially announced i was ecstatic. it was all i ever wanted out of a camera.

the more recent announcement, while nothing short of revolutionary for the industry as a whole, put a big question mark over the reality of 3k for 3k and what that might include. in effect the announcement was a step backward for those who would not be able to spend anymore then $3,000.

so i have to admit i am once again very excited about this new announcement because i love to see the advancements you guys are making and i love to dream about owning an epic someday, but please, please, please, if at all possible could you give us something at least as specific as the original 3k for 3k specs that were given? (maybe lens info, price, viewfinder, audio, etc.).

thanks

Also I'm very interested in R1 sensor upgrade program because I have "tattooed" camera.

Perhaps the parts implementing how many FPS you can get is now its own little upgradable module?
Actually, I hope not. The modular thing is amazing and revolutionary. But there's a point where it's impractical. After all, I don't want to have to start soldering upgraded chips to the board

This makes perfect sense in theory, but Jim said they discarded that approach, cause it wasn't practical from an engineering standpoint... or something like that.

Of course, I meant with the assumption that it was feasible/practical/etc.

Yes, but WHEN did he say that?... before things were subject to change, or after? hmmm???!!

just a couple of days:)
looking forward to it... I just hope once more that the announcements will give the original and only R1 in a good standing place... I dont know if it should be a special upgrade program for R1 buyers or an upgrade path that would compromise the whole investment in a better way... I just know we wont be disappointed.

I was born Dec 3, I don't know if I'm more exited for the announcement or for my birthday....

sorry, mauricio and number6, but i have to say i'm WAY more excited about the announcement than your b-days

Me too.... I began just treating them as Wednesdays after celebrating about the first thousand or so. Those weekly hangovers were KILLIN' ME!

Are these good news? Don't think these are good things.

I'm hoping that he'll announce a much sooner availability for Epic and Scarlet than the earlier announcement.

That, and a S35mm sized Monstro.

Stephen

That's the way I read Jim's message as well. "We have some cool breakthroughs to show you, but really wish we hadn't written "120FPS" above so many of those camera bodies in the last announcement."

I think it's going to go above 120 fps which will add cost if the camera has the 120 fps option stated in the first announcement and or going up to 120 fps and above on cameras that don't... and I'm going to be told I'm wrong in 3...2...1...

jajaja good!! Anyway Dec 3 is a day that you won't forget.... (you will never forget me  )

I think the most likely scenario will be cheaper low end scarlets ( 2/3" ) and epics ( S35 & FF35 ) that only offer 30FPS. I wish they would offer a cheaper Scarlet S35 or FF35, but its framerate is already 30, so they couldn't cut it too much ( 24 or 23.976 min ).

wait, hold on, I thought the cheaper Epics (S35 & FF35) that only offered 30fps WERE Scarlet S35 and Scarlet FF35...
