Jim, is there some kind of guide available to show the uses of each of the parts? Some are obvious, but some pieces appear to have more than one potential use, or their purpose isn't immediately clear. Maybe a sticky forum post by one of your guru's would do, since this info is likely to change...

You can visit the website store at anytime from now until the time your package ships to add to the order. We will also contact you before your camera ships to help you make any modifications to the order and secure payments, ect.

As for questions about if anyone still gets the premium productions package as a whole-no. Those in the first 50 camera deliveries didn't even get it. The fact is you can still get all the parts previously offered, the only difference is that you don't have to get all parts if you don't want them. The deposits that were placed on Prem. Prod. Packs will be applied to your order.

I spoke to Kelly and Brian at IBC and Brian put a list together for me for the parts that make up the Premium Production Package and the total cost is a lot more than $75 extra from what was orginaly priced.

Am I missing something here or did Brian get the list wrong adding more than required to make up the PPP?

On the cage we are getting conflicting information here... JIM says who needs the 4 side rails and Offhollywood say the cage rocks.

Which is it?

Please could someone from RED post a list of what makes up the PPP so we can clearly see what is needed and how much it will cost.

There is no penalty for waiting until the last minute before you receive your camera to order the accessories. In fact, it is probably better that way.

Jim

Great! I've been confused about this aspect of ordering, but no longer.

Many thanks.

from what i see, to remake the premium prod pack you would need:

basic prod pack x1: $1250
red handle x1: $250
top mount x1: $250
side handle x4: $800
12" steel rods x1: $40

total: $2590

i might be leaving some stuff out.

1x Basic Production Package = $1250 (603001)
2x Universal Mount = $200 (601002)
1x Red Handle = $250 (601003)
1x Red Handle Mount = $150 (601006)
1 x Top Mount = $250 (602010)
1 x Top Handle Extension = $175 (602012)
1 x 12" Steel Rods = $80
4 x Side Handles = $800

= $3155

$3155 - $2750 = $405

Basically I want to be able to go two ways. One is a "studio mode" which is basically the set up (plus viewfinder and LCD) shown on :

http://www.red.com/technology

The second is a "Lite set up" mainly for handheld work. Two handgrips, VF, LCD, shoulder mount, etc.

I found looking at the pieces alone it´s hard to know where they go, how many would I need, etc.

Why do you need (2) Universal Mounts?

The rods that come standard in the Basic Pack are 18".
The 15mm adaptor is mounted onto a universal mount to aligh your rods properly.

When it comes down to it the universal mount is going to be one of the most key pieces you have to gain flexibility in your configurations. The universal mount can mount your cradle, quickplate, 15mm adaptor, evf/lcd options, handle mount, ect.
It really is universal.

Ok, I understand this, but what I really meant was do I need two universal mounts, one of the Red Handle Mount and one for the 15mm adaptor, or can I use only one for both?

You will need 2 for that config. if you try to mount the 15mm adap. on top of the handle mount it will be misaligned (too high).
Keep in mind you will most likely need another univ. to mount your power source. So you'll probably need more like 3. Most of the 1st 50 owners ordered 3-4 universal mounts at least- for situations such as these. Like I say this will be a very valuable "extra" to have in your arsenal.

Come on RED staff.

Ok, thanks for the quick and precise answers!

I am curious, are any of the accessories available to purchase now or must they wait to be obtained with the camera body? There are a number of pieces that I would love to get sooner as I need to make some modifications and this would allow me to hit the ground running once the body is ready.
