Ran into a bug in sequences that were previously working.

I have three layers of video set up. Two layers are R3D footage or Ae comps with R3Ds as a base source while the third is an image of a vignette (black and alpha channel). What was set up and working was a fade between 'normal' footage into the vignetted look. I'm not sure what update broke this (upgrading from CS5 to CS5.5 or one of the CS5.5 updates) but now when I render previews the render process gets to the opacity fade on the top layer video track and locks up. If I can get the program back it simply reports an unknown error. I have swapped the layers around and changed the fade appropriately but nothing fixes the problem. I have also tried both psd and tiff vignette images.

As a work-around I am moving all the vignetting into Ae, but this will be a lot of extra work and will slow my rendering down as much of the footage was simple clips which now have to be dynamic links into Ae.

Dynamic link layers when mixed with others can cause problems. I simply render out the ae link sequence (and keep the ae project in case I want to tweak it later). I then fit the rendered sequence where the AE link used to be.
