Hello Chieftans,
Im looking for some resources, links or know-how on a workflow for editing in Premiere, Grading in Resolve and finishing
/graphics/vfx in After Effects with Red footage mixed with other footage from for example the A7sII. Is anyone familiar with this workflow, or one that offers the same ability and flexibility as using each app in the pipeline for each it's own strength? I know you can get away with doing certain AE jobs in PP etc, but I'm really after a workflow as described above. Also how you pass your edit on to Resolve and still be able to work with the r3d metadata directly in Resolve.
Any masters?
Thanks
Kris

if you use redlog for red and slog3 lut for a7sii, they will both be close to cineon so grading should go easier. An XML export should work provided you don't do speed ramping. Dynamic link is an option but rendering out EXR is much faster and safer. or a prores 4k if you're low on space/speed.

This is a super easy workflow, and one I've come to depend on the last few years.

Steps:
Edit in premiere from raw footage
Create dynamic links in premiere timeline to after effects project. All effects links will be in one AE project.
(Depending on the effect type, you may want/need to render your raw media to 2K/HD for effects work)
Render all AE effects to desired format and resolution
Place all effects clips you want to grade in timeline over/above dynamic links
Complete edit
Export FCP XML
Resolve - Import FCP XML & Link clips if necessary.
Grade
Export - Final Cut Round Trip preset to export graded clips as original timeline
Premiere - Import timeline and paste dynamic links to new graded timeline for GFX and ungraded VFX.

FWIW -- I've also recently switched over to fusion for effects that require a lot of heavy lifting (keys, GPU driven processes) with a good GPU it seems quite a bit faster than AE.
