I have been really impressed with the workflow of R3D files in Premiere Pro 5.5. Before I switched to FCP 7 and had to spend a day transcoding footage thru Redcine X to 1080 just so I can work on it in Final Cut. I have recently switched to PC and bought Production Premium CS 5.5 with a student discount. I do love the smooth workflow and how you can do non-destructive color correction by right clicking on each R3D file and hitting the "source settings" option. I prefer this method over Speedgrade CS6 which I tried the trial and didn't like using a separate color correcting program. Being able to adjust the playback and pause resolution helps too so I don't have to spend tons of money on a RED ROCKET card. Adobe has been really on top of their game, I didn't see any reason to upgrade to CS6. I also wasn't a fan of the simplified interface of Premiere CS6 either.

I have even downloaded the Red Epic/Scarlet update for a new short film that I'm working on with the Red Scarlett X.

Has anyone had any success stories with Red workflow on Premiere? I know lots of editors that are ditching their MACS and FCP for PCS and Premiere

There are several recent and active threads discussing Premiere cs6 that you can read. It is much better (faster, more stable, better interface) than cs5. Don't know about 5.5. We are cutting our feature on FCP7 on mac, doing all conformation in Premiere cs6, coloring, vfx, and finishing in AE on windows.

Sorry I was referring to CS 5.5, CS6 isn't that much of an upgrade except a few effects and a simpler look really. I prefer the original workspace considering that I've been using premiere since version 7.0 (pre CS3)

Matthew,

You can go easily go back to the 5.5 workspace (look in the workspaces menu) And, of course, the whole interface is super simple to customize and build it how you want it. With CS6 you can even rebuild your toolbars, etc.

So many good improvments in the Timeline for CS6 when it comes to general editing - I am not too happy when I have to go back to 5.5 :)

Matthew - TRIM CONTROLS! :-) It's a CS6 feature that makes it really tough to go back - subtle trimming, keyboard driven, in the timeline. Asymmetrical trimming. Dynamic trims, trims while looping around an edit. CS6 has a lot to offer an editor!

ADJUSTMENT LAYERS - that work in real-time while adjusting effects!
