Hi all. I've been in the Sony ecosystem for years, so I haven't really worked with RAW files in a while. I've been having issues with laggy playback with R3D Komodo files shot in 6K in LQ and ELQ. I'm choosing the 4K Red sequence preset and I'm editing on a 2022 Mac Studio m1 Max with 32gb of RAM. I'm also running an older OS (12.5.1) and PP is 2023, so maybe that's an issue? Thanks

I'm an FCP 11 guy so I may not be much help with this.
I do have a similar Mac Studio and Macbook Pro as your setup and am in fact working on an edit with Komodo R3Ds as I type. It plays back fine even at 6K though piling on effects and filters can slow things down.

Do you also get laggy plackback in RED Cine-X? Could be a good way to determine if this is just a Premiere issue.
I will say that generally it is much better to use SSDs compared to spinning drives for editing so that might be something to consider.

Thanks, I'm going to update PP but I'm hearing bad things about v25 so I may go to 24

Cool, hopefully it works better or considering the monthly small fortune Adobe gets from its user base it better perform well.

Adobe is a bit of a joke at this point. But I've been working with it for 15 yrs so you know the teaching old dogs saying. If my partner didn't pay for the monthly subscription I would use Resolve. In fact, I'm going to start learning DR because it's just better...
