Hey guys , I just installed Adobe premiere CS5.5 and upgraded to CS5.5.2. My problem is when I try to Import an R3D file into premiere I get an error saying...
"Unsupported format or damaged file" does the R3D file need to be in its folder structure for premiere to recognize it? Thanks in advance guys!

Did you install the new Epic importer? Is it Epic or MX footage?

For Epic footage you must download the Epic Importer AND follow the MANUAL instructions--it looks like a lot to do, but it's SIMPLE and everytime you update from Adobe 5.1 to 5.2 etc....the update ERASES the Epic Imoporter, so you have to do another manual install of it OR like i do, keep a copy of each folder and drop it in when doing another Premier/After Effects Upgrade.

Thank u for the replies. mark to answer your question I imported red scarlet footage. And Johnny I deff didn't install the epic importer. I'll try that as soon as I get home. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey johnny I followed the steps from the link.. Everything worked out perfect! Just want to thank u for your time!

Hello:

I installed latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro 5.52 this week.

I immediately downloaded the RED EPIC Importer updates found here:

http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/redepic_importer/?tabID=details#tabTop

I believe I followed the directions accurately…After the installation I rebooted my Mac Pro

When I tried to import the R3D sample files, I still received the same "corrupt file message" --even after installing the RED EPIC importer files

To be certain, I have reinstalled the RED EPIC Importer update several times----same error message…

My question: Do I need to clear a cache file or do something else to make this work

Forgive me for asking something that has been covered at length already -- I just don't see an answer (I checked the Adobe Labs RED EPIC forum too)

Thanks,
Frank

if i were you frank i would contact adobe and let one of their reps check your system out. they can do this really cool thing where they can control your system remotely and diagnose what the problem is based on them checking code and seeing the errors themselves in real time via the internet. for an unrelated matter they once remotely controlled my system to figure out an issue... sure enough they got it all resolved in a matter of an hour or so

Today i discovered that the Epic Importer on the Adobe site is not available (Error 404). Is it only for the moment or has anybody encountered the same problem the last days already?

And Frank since you're contacting Adobe tell them to update their Epic plugin already! why is it still a preview? Are we ever going to get a production ready plugin?(with audio support?).... ;-)

Update: I am still awaiting a response from Adobe about my Adobe Premiere Pro 5.52 -- Epic importer problem (I was told that it has been "escalated to the highest level") ...

I'll let you know if anything good happens...

Frank

Any solution on this problem.
The importer was working fine on 5.5.1 and We did a silly thing by updating tp 5.5.2 in a middle of feature project and we have an issue of files offline and unsupported format errors.

Hey all
I'm just wondering if adobe update the importer plugin that may have some thing to do with this. I have tried ver PP5.5, PP5.5.1 AND PP 5.5.2 with the importer that's on adobe site and no luck. Can someone help by uploading the importer that is working fine for them, particular with pp 5.5.1. Just to see if that works for us. We in a "death" situation as we have over 2.5 hrs of edit over 8 sequences and everyone of them have a problem.

The reason I mentioned importer for PP5.5.1 this was the combination that worked for us.
Many Thanks

I had a similar problem late last year.
I updated PPro in the middle of a project, and files went "corrupt"... I then tried to install the Epic Importer to make them "good" again, but initially it didn't work.
However, when I originally installed the epic importer components, I incorrectly left the OLD components in their respective folders (I renamed them and kept them thinking it would work), then added in the "NEW" components.
Turns out this messes up the system.
Once I actually removed the older components (Per ADOBE's installation directions, which I, of course, had only skimmed over...) I could see my files again.
EVerything has performed quite well since.

SO... My thoughts are to re-read the installation notes, and re-check your Epic importer installation to see if any old components got left in... worked wonders for me!
;)

I have re installed PP 5.5, including the importer plugin number of times on two different machines and still the same problem. As mentioned i have tried all combinations on both machine from pp5.5 to pp 5.5.2. Still no luck. Also I did a clean (format system drive) install on one of the machine the problem is still there. Called adobe and been waiting over 45min on phone airing for someone to answer!!!!!
Im running on OSX 10.7.2
the only thing that's left is to revert to 10.7.1 and see what happens

Hi Bal: I have called Adobe 5 times in the last seven days (including today, Jan 2) --- the status *before* was "Adobe engineers are examining the sample files and are working on a solution" -- Tonight, I got an unhelpful reply: "must be a a conflict with a 3rd party plug-in" (which can't be the case as this was a fresh install of PP) -- The representative tonight told me to "Post a note in the Adobe forums" (which I already did on 12/18/11).

I am still attempting to escalate this issue at Adobe... Very frustrating

I am trying to reach out to Al Mooney, the Adobe Premiere Pro Product Manager (found his professional accounts on Twitter & Facebook). Hopefully, he can help...
