  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

premiere pro cs5 5.0.2 update issue

David--
How do I go back to a version of Premiere Pro without this issue? Can you send me a direct link to the patch/update that will undo version 5.0.2?
Thank you

Dude, like he said, long term bug - but it only affects clips with audio.

just noticed a 5.0.3 update for premiere. can anyone tell me if this will fix my problem? would really like to get this problem fixed as i noticed a huge difference with 5.0.2 update (for the ten minutes it worked) because i shot my film with mysterium x, and I NEED THAT COLOR SPACE!!!
thanks guys!

That "importerRedServer has stopped working" message is really killing me. Is there any solution yet.. 5.03 did nothing to solve the problem.. I even tried to copy the files to a new project. I worked for a while and the problem is there again..
Anybody figured a solution, or even a workaround..

Thanks

So, let me get this straight: Premiere Pro doesn't work with RED clips with audio on them? That would be like all of our clips. Everyone stinking one of them.

I was thinking about making the move from FCP to Premiere Pro and then I read this. Amazing.

I found a workaround for me (at least for the moment)..
I uninstalled Premiere 5.03 and installed 5.0, then updated to 5.03, same problem. I unintalled it again and installed 5.0, but I did not update. Every thing is working fine, but I don't have access to mercury hadware engine, (mercury software only) since I'm using Nvidia 470 gtx, which became supported with the 5.02 update..

It's fine for me for the moment since I can still work real time with 4K in half resolution with fast color corrector effect applied. I even added a fast blur effect, and it almost played real time..

I can live with that for now.. but still looking forward to a solution to that..

what about the REDCINE-X workflow? did you try the hack for the GPU to make it work?

I may try the hack later, but I am trying to find out a decent solution first.
Prior to the problem I was working in another projects with hundreds of clips, but I had no problem with importerREDserver, although the project took too long to load the footage, 2-3 minutes. That was quite unusual.. I did not want to mess with the program in the middle of the project, so I accepted that. Now I tried to open the same project with 5.0 and the footage loaded much much faster..
Now I can edit, but I don't have access to REDColor and RED Gamma, even version 1.

Mohammed! Congratulations! These are exciting times for Egypt (and for Tunisia); I have been following everything breathlessly; hope everything turns for the best.
(sorry to take this thread off topic for a moment)

Yes exciting times.. Especially for Mohammed.. Have a look at his profile photo at facebook, and you'll know what I mean.. I already congratulated him..

Now, from Egypt, back to the cloud world of RED forum.. My premiere 5.0 is new again, fast and reliable even without mercury support.. But I am confused.. We have another PC where the primary phase of editing is done.. That system is working fine with 5.02 .. I don't have problems with that (only a certain delay when I switch from other programs to Premiere. That could be because the computer was formatted 18 months ago, and could need a clean format), even with the very same project I faced problem in my system..

That means that the problem is not global, but local to certain systems.. Not to mention all the users that are using Premiere with success..

However 5.04 is due now with Red Gamma 2 and Red Color 2 support. That could fix the problem..

thank you very much hans.. they are very exciting times.. people here made a lot of fun out of this revolution.. they became crazy, they're very nice.. I lived inside the action during the 20 days of continuous protesting.. also a lot of people died about 600 and thousands of injuries, which is the sad side, there are a lot videos on youtube to see it in action..
I hope everything goes well after too.. I think it will..

sorry timi, my facebook is not searchable through web I may change the picture here too..

back to premiere CS5, Timi, did you forgot that you had the old PC running windows vista, and the new one is running windows 7?

I upgraded to 5.03 and faced the same problems.. I finished the project, and started another one 250-300 clips. The strange thing is that every thing is smooth now. No problem at all. I have even footages with audio (which is a mistake, since we are not recording audio, but the audio was enabled. I disabled it later)..

I just discovered this thread after having all above discussed problems since days.Five minutes ago I´ve got the first time this Redimporter not working message. Is there a update to fix this now? I´m working on a MX project "with audio" and CS5.03 on windows.
Marc

This "redimporter not working" drives me nuts! Anybody found a solution? Everytime I start premiere cs5 a lot or all of my clips are offline. Do you think to reinstall the Redimporter would help? I searched for the Redimporter on the Adobe labs side, but could not find it anymore.
I´m very thankful for every tip,
Marc

BTW: In my configuration it worked for several weeks without issues.

We had the same problem with 5.03 - went back to 5.00 which has other bugs...
We were in contact with Adobe for several weeks and they couldn't find the problem :rolleyes5:
Finally they accepted our problem as a problem today :D (thanks a lot!)
they told us that the problem is solved under cs 5.5 and we should buy it if we want a change :furious3:

I was just on the Adobe website and it looks like you can only pre-order cs5.5... so you can't even buy an immediate fix at the moment?

Downgrading to 5.00 helps with opening R3D Files. We can open our timeline with 5.00 without problems (feature length)
The downside - you have some other known bugs (some soundissues and other stuff - I'm not quite into it)
CS 5.5 should come in two or three weeks.

Had the problem too, when my project has grown over the months. Having more than 1500 Clips in the project the "not working" starts to bite me. At the end I finally deleted all cached files (cfa/pek) cleaned my project, made a new clean cache folder, let reconform from start, and since four weeks the problem never came back.
What made me suspicious, was that the problem started with accidentally reconforming of always different audioclips and the long wait for loading the timeline.

No this was a long term bug... Not sure why it didn't bite you...

Cheers

Dave

What solutions exist for CS5 AE users for gettings R3Ds to work (I have also experienced this red importer crash)?I tried rolling back to CS5 from my install disc but still wouldn't work. Is the only fix for this the CS5.5 upgrade or is there a patch or something in the works for CS5 users not read for the upgrade?

Much appreciated!
Adrian

[FONT=&quot]Sorry for taking so long to get back on this thread. It took a while to isolate this problem. It appears that there was a bug in the RED SDK that we used to develop the CS5 (5.0.2) update---which added the new color science support. The problem is fixed in Premiere Pro CS5.5.

We are still looking into what solution might be available for CS5.

Thanks for your patience.

I really appreciate the feedback. I hope I don't need to buy a new version to get that conditionality back, even though I know it's going to be an awesome upgrade.
