Hey guys,
Recently shot a music video and when I previewed my files in RedCine-X Pro, it said I had 152 files (correct amount). Now, when I created a new project in Premiere CC and I imported my files, for some reason it imported 225 files and a lot of the clips are duplicated 3 times or more (attaching screenshots). Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix this issue?

I found if you are using a Mac premiere will generate little thumbnail files. Check the size and remove them. One of my students ran into this problem, trying to edit with the thumbnails, wondering why the quality is so low and she could only cut at 2 second intervals rather than by the frame.

Sometimes with spanned clips Premiere will show two (or more) of the same clip. You can delete the extras from the project as long as you didn't use them in your sequence. This happens in Premiere with other digital media files that use spanning, like P2.

Check you clips... when they exceed 2gig in size, they get duplicated in order to be safer... postfix will have _!, _2, _3...

Premiere will duplicate the files because actually in the file system in your computer each clip has multiple files. But the way to not have that happen is to import the files through the media browser don't import through the finder or file import use the "media browser" and it wont duplicate

spanned clips do not generate extra clips....as long as they are imported through the media browser

if you just click in the project and import you can get spanned clips....but if importing through the media browser they will always come in as 1 clip
