I got a mac pro back in January and I've been having a bit of trouble.

While working in my timeline, usually with effects on 5k footage, it will crash. Adobe doesn't pop up with an error or anything, my computer just stops responding to the keyboard or mouse. I can move the mouse, but can't click on anything. Force close doesn't come up either. I was editing off of a seagate thunderbolt drive (presumably 5400) so I switched to a G drive 7200 but it still happened. A raid is in the near future but I don't know if that'll solve it.

While rendering it freezes on longer projects. If i switch to software render only without GPU acceleration, it works 100% but takes about 3x as long. Even on EX3 1080p footage to a Vimeo 1080 export.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have the 12 core 64gb ram Dual D700s.

Do you have a Red rocket ? 5k footage I guess you need red rocket.

Sorry for the late reply, Tyler. I strongly believe Red rocket is the reason in your case. Your new computer is not going to eliminate the need for Red Rocket. Or a fast Thunderbolt 2 raid may help you.

I would strongly suggest you contact Adobe.

Tyler,

This just started happening to me too yesterday. I actually talked to an apple engineer over 45 minutes about it, but it is only happening in Premiere. I can't force quit anything, keyboard unresponsive, but the mouse still shows up on screen. Yesterday I had to manually do a hard restart of the system 8 times. I was working with 4k, no effects (only simple temp tities) and some psd files running at 1/8 to 1/4 res. I have the 8 core, 64gb ram, dual 700s and a Pegasus 2 12tb raid. The weirdest thing is that I don't get a "sorry a serious problem occurred..." message or anything from Premiere or the OS saying that it was shutdown due to a problem. It's super frustrating. Funny thing is that it has been running close to flawless until yesterday when it just decided it didn't feel like working anymore. I've done all the normal steps by cleaning all the caches and prefs from the whole system as well as starting new projects and testing in there and importing sequences from the old project. The other thing I noticed (because I tried to open it) was that for this particular project it stopped saving auto-save files. I would get the auto save progress bar every now and then but there isn't an auto save file in the folder for the last week. I'm guessing it's some weird bug, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'll be working tonight, as I'm behind now on this project. Thanks.

Adobe needs to address this asap. I was on with tech support yesterday for over an hour. They took control of my computer, did some crap and now media encoder doesn't work. I had a project due this morning. I was up all night and I can't get anything to successfully export. I have to hard restart every time. It locks up at different points, so it's not a certain area in the timeline that is having issues. I have no idea what to do. Thanks for making my brand new system useless by doing whatever you did yesterday. And for closing out my case immediately after closing my session. My client is pretty thrilled. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I've already lost it a couple times. My wife took my daughter out of the house because there are so many times a 3 year old can hear the f-bomb.
