Ok here is the deal. Edited ten different projects in premiere with r3d's no sweat. Works great. Now and it is not on all projects r3'd will come into premiere and then just say media pending when I try to scrub them. No rhyme or reason same settings throughout all projects and some work and some don't. SUCKS!

Couple of things:

What ver of PP are you running? - 6.02 has been pretty buggy for a lot of RED users

Have you updated the RG3/RC3 patch files? - If not you need to do that

Are you using a rocket in an enclosure? - If so, I think all people are having issues, so disable the Rocket for the time being

Worst case - try creating a new project, then use File-Import to import your old project into the blank new one. This is a good "last resort" technique to try if a project won't open properly.

Sounds like maybe you updated to 6.0.2? If so, you need to update your Epic importer files.

PM me if you would like some help.

Wes

I am using a rocket in an enclosure and yes not using it fixed the problem. Really sucks that to fix it I lose the rocket. Wes this may be a dumb question but where are the new Epic Importer files for download? I would assume Adobe site

deleting the media cache folders (after updating the latest RED importer patch files) resolved this case.

Have also experienced this with audio files (BWF) and dynamic link after effects compositions. All flavors of CS6. Restart usually fixes it up. Sometimes, I just try to reconnect it but never actually choose the file (hit cancel) and it starts to work. Very strange.

Also having this issue post 6.02 upgrade.

I have reinstalled the RED importer files, an deleted media cache but media thumbnails still only show generic RED icon, and scrubbing R3D on timeline gives "pending media" alert.

Creating new session and trying to simply import footage has failed as well.

Also, I'm on a MBPR...does anyone know if I should install cudadriver-5.0.17-macos.dmg?

Thanks for any input...

Double check that the 2 importer files are installed and updated correctly. Restart - Then try a new project...

This has solved all media pending issues for me. Deleting the media cache folders can help if you have problems opening older projects.

That should do it... I haven't seen any other issues that would still cause media pending issues.

Best,
Wes

Also, there has been a 6.03 update that may be catching some people off-guard now. Need to reinstall those importers again after this update!

Wes, is there ANY chance that the RED importer will be brought out of labs soon and into the normal flow of updates to Premiere?? Updating the importer plugins each time we update Premiere is quickly becoming a pain in the butt.

Thanks!

Funny. There doesn't seem to be any consistent theme to these problems, other than generically related to OSX10.8.2 & Premiere 6.02.

I just installed a new SSD system drive in my 2009 MP:
totally clean OSX 10.8.2
Full Adobe Creative Cloud suite with Premiere 6.02 (stock, no Labs Redimporter bundle/server)
RedRocket in a Cubix with latest firmware and driver
Quadro 4000 w/stock driver & CUDA 5.0.36

To my glee everything worked great. CUDA & R3D Rocket-Enabled perfomance was fine in Adobe apps, DaVinci was happy, RedCine X Pro v16- yes!

Then I update the Adobe Apps to the labs version of the Red Importer bundle/server, and R3Ds would not playback with Rocket enabled...just a white screen in the playback window. So I rolled back to the stock red importer bundle/server (as included in the CS6.02 installer) and all is good again. So for now I'm going to stick with this setup. I can work around not having RedColor3 access in the adobe apps until they get their act together with a new production ready version of the RedImporter code. Hopefully, soon.

Cheers

OSX 10.7.x was a pretty solid platform for me. As driver version/OSX updates/CS6 updated happened performance envelopes shifted, but I never had a white screen on playback. You mihgt need to do a clean install.

Does anyone have the importer files they could send me for 6.0.2? My email is jeremy@jeremysnell.com
I've tried downloading the latest ones from adobe lab, but they still don't work. And when i get info on them, they say they are version 6.0.0 and were updated last on may 22nd! :/
Any help would be appreciated. R3D files won't read at all in my timeline. they worked fine until i tried updating the REDimporter files to get gamma3.

Media Pending for Red r3d files in premiere : Solution!

Media Pending for Red r3d files in premiere : Solution!

After many hours of experimenting I've found a solution that works for me.

On the clips that are stuck on media pending, right click them in the project window, select source settings, in the source settings pop-up window - select Save to RMD and then Reload from RMD.
You should then see the clip load properly and then click ok.

If you are not using a custom RMD then you can select multiple clips at the same time and update the RMD.
It may work even if you are using a custom RMD for each clip but I didn't test that as I didn't want to lose my settings.
